Good news for those that have been holding out on the fcc and the wireless telecommunications bureau to actually drop the price of the gmrs license fee from 70$ down to 35$.
There are many options of gmrs and frs radios there junk walmart radios and better radios on amazon type accepted as gmrs radios as lisenses free 2watts or less on either service cause frs radios. The question should also be raised as to why the fcc requires an $85 fee since licensing requires no knowledge test; With this report and order, the new gmrs license fee will be only $35,.
Per the fcc's notice, the change will take effect april 19, 2022. I didn't see anyone mention this on here yet but just saw the fcc is changing its fee schedule and a gmrs license is going down from $70 to $35. The fee will apply to vanity call signs as well.
